3D ANIMATION

Introduction

One of the most versatile tools to support current artistic creation, and which I better master is in my opinion what is called "3d modeling", "3d animation", "3d design" etc.

Like many other artistic instruments, it was born (in the mid-70s) with different intentions, and more precisely as a support for architectural design, vehicles, and objects of common use intended for industrial production:

CAD = Computer-aided design.

Basically, this tool allowed:

1) in the design phase: be able to draw straight lines on the computer, perfect curves, solid without the need for lines, set-squares, goniometers, compasses etc

2) be able to view the the project in three dimension project (rendering)

Opportunities related to the entertainment industry were clearly seen very early: scenographic design, special effects for the cinema, video games, animation.

Like practically every humanly created technique, we are able to witness an "evolution" from the "primitive" stages to the "renaissance" , to the mastery of technique, till the most faithful reproduction of the nature. Then come to the avant-garde periods, in which the techniques are subverted and used "improperly" to create interesting results.

The "visualization", or rendering, is what appears to the final users, or viewers of the work.

It is self-evident that it is easy to trace an evolutionary line (continued):
